Focaccia
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
Directions
- Sprinkle yeast over warm water and let stand a few minutes.
- Combine flour, salt, and herbs.
- Drizzle in olive oil.
- Pour in yeast/water mixture.
- mix until just combined.
- Form dough into a ball.
- Coat with olive oil.
- Place in bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
- Set aside for 1 to 2 hours to let rest and rise.
- Gently knead bread and form to desired shape.
- Place on a sheet pan oiled with olive oil.
- Drizzle with olive oil.
- Cover with a towel and place in a warm area for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Remove cover.
- Use your finger tips to form dimples.
- Drizzle with olive oil.
- Sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake until golden brown 30 to 40 minutes.
- Place on a cooling rack.
- Cut into desired size pieces and server..
Notes:
- In step 10 above, you can break dough into mini balls to make personal sized biscuits.
