Grandma Henson's Paw Buns

  1. Ingredients
  •  2 cups luke warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 packets dry yeast(1 packet = 2 1/2 tsp )
  • 1 egg
  • 6 1/2 to 7 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup shortening

 Instructions

  1. Mix together water, sugar, salt, and shortening.
  2. Disolve yeast in 1/2 cup of lukewarm water and add to mixture.
  3. Stir in eggs.
  4. Beat in 3 cups of flour with a spoon until smooth, and then work in the remaining flour by hand using enough flour to make it easy to handle.
  5.  Round up dough and do not knead.
  6. Place in a greased bowl and cover tightly with plastic wrap.
  7. Cover with a damp cloth and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.  Dampen cloth occasionally.
  8. When dough rises punch down occasionally.
  9. Use as needed and  return remainder to fridge.
  10. Shape rolls and place in greased baking pan.
  11. Cover baking pan with damp cloth.
  12. Let rise until doubles in size. ( approximately 1 1/2 hours)
  13. Preheat oven to 450 degrees and bake for 15 – 20 minutes until golden brown.
