
Grandma Henson's Paw Buns
- Ingredients
- 2 cups luke warm water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 packets dry yeast(1 packet = 2 1/2 tsp )
- 1 egg
- 6 1/2 to 7 cups flour
- 1/4 cup shortening
Instructions
- Mix together water, sugar, salt, and shortening.
- Disolve yeast in 1/2 cup of lukewarm water and add to mixture.
- Stir in eggs.
- Beat in 3 cups of flour with a spoon until smooth, and then work in the remaining flour by hand using enough flour to make it easy to handle.
- Round up dough and do not knead.
- Place in a greased bowl and cover tightly with plastic wrap.
- Cover with a damp cloth and place in the refrigerator until ready to use. Dampen cloth occasionally.
- When dough rises punch down occasionally.
- Use as needed and return remainder to fridge.
- Shape rolls and place in greased baking pan.
- Cover baking pan with damp cloth.
- Let rise until doubles in size. ( approximately 1 1/2 hours)
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees and bake for 15 – 20 minutes until golden brown.
